Grand Prairie, TX     February 3, 2024

The 11th iteration of the Pirates on the Prairie concert series in many ways was the debut of the latest lineup of Bilge Pumps to the D/FW area. With no opening act this year, we were able to put on a set of traditional pirate music and a second set of electric rock-based pirate music, including some of the hidden bonus songs on our albums that rarely get a live performance.

The noir power was strong the night of the show and the Uptown was ready for us.

The stage is set and the Bilge Pumps will be sure to unsettle it.

The Bilge Pumps take the stage and welcome everyone to the show and to their seats.

The Uptown's stage does make for a nice framework in an attempt to keep the insanity contained to the stage.

The new lineup of the band hits the stage, with 7 highly trained professionals ready to... uh... something.

This year, the band was using video backdrops to really kick in some emotions.. other than revulsion this time.

On stage "port", Ruby Pearl the Quartermaster, Fanny the Flagmaker, and Sharkbait Simon the Scapegoat have the melodies down.

On stage "starboard", John Crow the Cook, Splice the Rigger, and Black Pearl the Cannoneer keep the world dancing.

Meanwhile, amidships, Maroon the Shantyman does the best he can to surround himself with logos of the band. Can you count them all?

The band really needs to stop eating Jamaican food before the show.

Maroon spots a body snatcher coming up from the audience. Could just be a run of the mill kraken, though.

The band fires up "The Dark Lady" with the song writer in the audience.

The band even caught up with Ek Ong Kaar Michaud after the show for a pic.

John Crow appears to be waaay too into his mandhandling during "The Night Pat Murphy Died".

Maroon and Splice drop Crow to the ground so he can target some poor audience member with his lustful stare.

During "Rippy the Gator", an actual Rippy sneaks behind the band to cause mayhem and mangle children.

If you don't chomp like this, the gator will chomp you back.

Rippy checks in to make sure the audience is chomping properly.

A side shot of the band in action.

Ruby Pearl nails her rhyme on "Donkey Riding" and basks in the audience's appreciation.

Then she and the band go into the audience and round up backup dancers for "Johnny Jump Up".

It's time for set 2, and the band goes into rock formation.

That means Black Pearl gets to break our her full drum kit.

The band debuts their new version of Ruby Pearl's song, "Crows Nest".

Maroon, Ruby Pearl, and Sharkbait plug in their electric guitars to show the Stones a thing or two.

Being electric doesn't mean we can't go a bit country, too, during "Ar Fa La La Yee-Ha!".

We play both kinds of music... country AND western.

Fanny wants to get in on the action during "Yo Ho".

She just needed to find a big ol' drum to whack.

John Crow looks longingly at Splice's margarita for that song... what was the name?

Maroon and Ruby Pearl keep the mood going for "Ride Captain Ride" while Sharkbait vomits in his mouth.

Splice gets into the bonus song action, singing lead on "Buccaneer City".

The evening wraps up, as is traditional, with the latest super cake by Stef the Ship's Baker.

Our thanks go to Adele Spears (aka Frenchie the Treasure Map) for being the official photographer of the night.
