The Bilge Pumps - Past Landings: Mardi Gras Galveston 2015
Galveston, TX     February 8, 2015
The Bilge Pumps returned to the scene of the crime that spawned them 16 years prior, as we crashed the largest party in Texas once again performing at Mardi Gras Galveston.
We headlined the show's Family Gras Sunday by dosing the locals in beads, buccaneers, and breathtaking music. OK, that last one is a bit of a stretch, but two out of three ain't bad.
Sharkbait Simon unfortunately didn't make the trip, so the full breaking in of Jack the Rum Runner continued in the true pirate style. Hard and unrelenting.
Maroon, John Crow, Fanny, and Natty also participated in the 6:00 Krewe of Gambrinus Parade that wound miles and miles around the island, all the while flinging beads on the heads and into the eyes of unwary parade watchers. Who says being a pirate isn't fun?
The wee pirates guard the dinghy while the pirates prepare the ammunition for the bead onslaught of the Saturday Krewe of Gambrinus parade.
Jack the Rum Runner gears up for solo guitar duty in a 2 hour set.
Splice the Rigger is deep in his mental preparation for the show... like really, really deep.
Harvey the Corpsman and John Crow the Cook have the mic stands all loaded up with beads for the tossing.
Maroon the Shantyman loads up his mic stand with the fancy pirate ship beads.
Jack, on the other hand, just gets loaded.
Uh oh, the kids must have gotten wind of all of the beads on stage.
Finally! The Bilge Pumps hit the stage, in time to spread their message of piracy for all!
Splice tries to show the audience to keep rhythm, but if they're watching Harvey or John Crow at all, they'll never get it.
Splice the Rigger shows off his special Mardi bra for "Biddy McGrath", much to the children's enjoyment.
When John Crow got a little handsy, he ends up with a Victoria's Secret Recipe snack.
Jack gives Splice his just desserts and final judgement for being too strapped.
Maroon decides the show needs more audience, so he breaks out the bead tossing.
Jack decides to hit the back row with a super high bead toss.
