The Bilge Pumps - Past Landings: Texas Pirate Festival 2017
Hillsboro, TX     July 8 - 9, 2017
The heat was hot, the water was wet, and the pirates were piratey as we rolled into the Texas prairie in Summer (again) to entertain those that were brave of heat and high on endurance.
Sure, it cooled off nicely when the thunderstorms took over the show and soaked everyone down, but at least it was hot right before and after.
You gotta look at the nice things in life.
The pub had taken a beating in the year between festivals and the roof seemed to have shrunk.
Maroon the Shantyman gets the luck draw of being the first one to cook from the hole in the roof.
Splice the Rigger has either had it up to here or is showing us how long his beard will grow in.
The audience gathers in to see the show. Could be for the band or it could be this is the only place with shade and beer.
John Crow the Cook shows us his perpetual "What happened?" face.
The spotlight of death has now moved to Harvey the Corpsman, much to the delight of melanoma around the world.
When telling this band to assume the position, you can never assume they know the position.
Harvey gathers up some pumpettes to help out on "Johnny Jump Up" and to stomp him out if he catches fire.
Maroon and Harvey try to prove to the audience they're not vampires... only blood suckers.
Splice the Rigger pours a special shot for Maroon to choke down during "Seven Drunken Nights"
And that's the face you make after taking a mystery shot from your trusted band-mates.
Sunday at the festival was going to be alternatingly mind-bending hot or pouring rain. The audience attended accordingly.
Harvey decides to make it rain on his own during "Congo River".
Right on cue...
See? There's your problem, right there.
