Grand Prairie, TX     February 22, 2025

The 12th Pirates on the Prairie concert brought in some familiar faces and some brand new ones. Instead of our visiting performers being another pirate band, we brought in a while different kind of talent as we were joined on stage by A Mirage Dance Company, friends of our from Oklahoma. They helped add some class and sass to the evening with their mixes of belly dance and other world dances. The Bilge Pumps wrapped up the evening with a traditional evening (no rock songs nor drum kits) as we gave the audience the pirate music dose they came for.

The Uptown's lobby was filled with the history of past Pirates on the Prairie concerts.

The Bilge Pumps merch booth was ready to go as well.

First up are the ladies of A Mirage Dance Company, seen here in their hula outfits.

A Mirage Dance Company takes the stage, much to the delight of the audience. Especially the ones up close.

You have to admire the courage it takes to dance barefoot on a wooden floor.

The ladies use their veils to hypnotise the audience into larger and larger tips.

In the intermission, our emcee Blackbead continues to clean up in jewelry sales.

Fanny the Flagmaker is enlisted to help draw the names of the door prize winners.

Finally, it was time for the Bilge Pumps to hit the stage.

This year, the band made good use of the larger display behind them, courtesy of the Grand Prairie Arts Council.

The frigid whaling air seems almost real during "Bonnie Ship the Diamond".

The artificial set really "sets" the mood during "The Old Black Rum".

The band's charicatures watch closely to make sure no one messes up the lyrics.

Fanny and Sharkbait Simon the Scapegoat are dwarfed by the tallness of the tall ship.

The ladies of A Mirage return to the stage and help the band perform "The Isle of Tortuga".

The ladies then go among the audience and get some crowd dancing going during "Johnny Jump Up".

Splice the Rigger and the band bid farewell to the audience after performing the last song "Please Don't Take Me Down".

After the show is over, the performers and audience alike gather in the lobby for the traditional sharing of the concert cake.

Our thanks go to Laurel Bryant (among others) for pictures of the festivities.
