Lawton, OK     June 17 - 18, 2006

Our visit to the first-ever Lawton Ren Fest gave us the full gamut of Oklahoma early Summer weather. From 70 mph straight line winds, lightning, and horizontal rain on Saturday to 105 degree heat on Sunday, we got the best the state had to offer. Luckily for us, the people of Oklahoma aren't scared off by such things and still came out to enjoy the festival and (for those that haven't seen our shows a hundred times) get their first exposure to piracy on the plains.

The Bilge Pumps set up our first-ever tent booth at a faire, with all the various sundries you could want.

Unfortunately, the windy weather came whipping in Saturday afternoon and all hands were on deck to hold the booth down and dismantle it... except for Phil who couldn't be bothered from his food.

Before the really nasty stuff came down, though, the Bilge Pumps were determined to get out one more performance

It's two for one at the show. You can watch pirates and the possibility of a funnel cloud

Once the monsoon actually started, the crowd ran for home and the band took shelter in the backstage bus

After a bit, the Bilge Pumps rolled into the tent over the King's Stage to entertain the soggy crowd hiding from the rain

Phil McGroin and John Crow looked totally wiped out after that fight with the weather

Harvey and John start performing their best anti-rain dance to cancel the bad weather luck

When Sharkbait's around, the headband says it all... caution!

The bout with the bad weather has left Lyssa the Monkey feeling sad and sickly, even wrapped up in Maroon's cloak.

Either John Crow is peeing on Harvey or he's looking to have a little more fun onstage than is sancitoned by the owners

Now that's an evil-looking trio.

Either Harvey is doing some Kung Fu fighting or he's really cutting the cheese. Only John Crow knows for sure.

Maroon gets into that head-banging frame of mind.

Well, it's Sunday now and the sun's come out to play... making the Queen's Stage reach about 140 degrees.

Galleon and Harvey stay cool onstage by spitting on each other. Just like pirate's did in the old days.

While the rest of the group actually thinks on their feet, Galleon and Phil try to find a quiet place to come up with rhymes on "Donkey Riding".

Hey, wait a minute... What's that Brother Dimm doing behind Maroon with a water balloon?

Oh, never mind. Should have known.
